Why all the talk about fermented foods lately?
We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us!  We've been hearing that for years and now we hear the motto, Fruits and Veggies - More Matters!
That is so true!  Those amazing plant foods have thousands of plant chemicals called phytochemicals or phytonutrients that protect your body from damage!
Phytonutrients, the chemicals that help plants defend against environmental challenges, such as damage from pests or ultraviolet light, appear to provide humans with protection as well. Mounting research shows their effectiveness in preventing and treating a range of conditions including everything from cancer and heart disease to diabetes and high blood pressure.
That's why I'm passionate about helping you find ways to get more of those plant foods into  your body everyday!
AS well, fermented foods and veggies have been around for anywhere from 7000 to 12,000 years depending on what you read!
The process of fermentation breaks down the food being fermented and releases an array of nutrients, amino acids, vitamins and more - the key to all of this is bacteria.  Wait though!  These are the healthy bacteria strains which you rely on to survive actually!  Your digestive system is home to billions of strains of friendly bacteria called microflora.  Their job is the break down the foods you eat into a form that can then be absorbed by the body.   If you don't have these bacteria in the right balance, you can set yourself up for a ton of health issues such as food allergies, skin problems, joint issues, and degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and more!  With all those health concerns on the rise, it may be wise to do what you can to support your digestive system where 70-80% of your immune system cells reside.  Repopulating your gut with friendly bacteria is so powerful!  Not just in taking a probiotic pill, but in consuming fermented foods!
Come to hear how to make your own Kraut easily to obtain those gut friendly bacteria in large amounts with some yummy veggies that have been fermented!
