I am primarily trained in hatha yoga and am registered with Yoga Alliance, the internationally recognized yoga association, since 2006. I hold the designation of E-RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). I also have completed other advanced yoga trainings in San Diego County. Embracing learning as a lifelong pursuit, I continually expand my knowledge through workshops in all areas of yoga.
I teach yoga classes and workshops in North County San Diego and offer gentle yoga classes at El Camino Country Club in Oceanside, CA, I also offer a class on Saturday mornings at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center in Carlsbad, CA. But why is it so popular? Yoga seems to be all the rage. As its popularity has grown, there are now classes appropriate for anyone, and you can find just the right class that to fit your needs. Recent studies have shown that a regular practice of yoga can improve back pain, reduce the amount of pain medication need, and help people lose weight. Regardless of your physical condition, you’ll find there are a number of reasons for practicing yoga. Benefits
Couldn’t you use more strength, stamina, balance and flexibility as well as more calmness and peace in your life?
Not Just for the Body Yoga is a Sanskrit word that roughly means “union” or “yoking.” Yoga practice unites your physical body, your intellectual mind and your inner spirit as it moves you toward balance and wholeness. The creation of yoga over 5000 years ago in India was for the purpose of using the body and breath to tame the mind. We can still experience those wonderful benefits today with our yoga practice—and we might just lose some weight, tone our muscles, eliminate our back pain, reduce our stress, and much more along the way! Many of us suffer from incessant mind chatter. Yoga helps calm our “monkey minds” which jump from thought to thought in a never ending spin. As we practice yoga, we build awareness of our true selves, slowly stitching together the mind, body, breath and spirit. We learn that sensations, as well as thoughts, come and go, and we learn to release them with ease. As we let go of the agitations of our minds and become calm and quiet, it becomes possible for us to reap the true fruits of yoga which include equanimity, love, compassion, and joy. Taking time to be present in the current moment and conscious of your thoughts, your body, and your breath are all are part of your yoga practice. Through yoga, we find that we are in charge of our minds and that we always have a choice about what we think, thus we can experience happiness and contentment, here and now. I love teaching gentle yoga and flow classes. Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned yogi, come and experience the beautiful yoga asanas that are so beneficial to the body and calm your mind. Nurture and honor yourself with yoga! |
