In 2003, I completed certification in Advanced Bach Flower Essence Training. As part of my nutritional consulting, I offer my clients the option of their unique power to help heal both the body and mind.
When appropriate and at a client’s request, flower essences can assist with mental and emotional imbalances to restore equilibrium gently and subtly. When balance is restored in the mind, clients can regain strength and harmony. My clients have experienced benefits on many levels from these beautiful flower essences, and I am so grateful to be able to offer these remedies as part of my wellness consulting practice.
Flower Essences are liquid, potent plant preparations which carry a distinct imprint of a given flower, a vibration. They are made by the interaction of sunlight on the flower blossom as it rests in a bowl of pure water. The imprint or vibration is sent into the water which becomes the “mother” or stock remedy. The flower blossom is then given back to the earth. Flower essences are safe, have no side effects, and are extremely effective. They can benefit anyone, including children and animals, and even plants.
History of Flower Essences
Dr. Edward Bach, born in 1886, is the grandfather of the science of flower essence healing. An English physician who specialized in bacteriology, pathology, and homeopathy, he felt that modern medicine was failing his patients in many ways. He began a search for a “pure and simple way of healing the sick.” His studies of homeopathy led him to find flower essences. Dr. Bach had a love of nature and a highly attuned intuition which allowed him to tune into people and nature and feel compassion for all that suffered.
“In the presence of the way of Nature, disease has no power. It is not possible for us to be ill unless we are not in harmony with our true nature. If we treat the mood and not the disease, we are treating the real person and we are giving the patient what is truly required to bring back health.” Dr. Edward Bach.
During his studies of nature, flowers and plants, Dr. Bach discovered that flowers could harmonize the emotional imbalances which he came to see as the real cause of physical disease. He believed that disease first lodged as a mental-emotional state and that any patient could eventually be cured if he were restored to happiness and regained a desire to carry on with his work in life. He felt flower essences could facilitate this state.
Bach discovered 38 remedies. Once a remedy is chosen for someone either through muscle testing or questionnaires, the flower essence drops are taken under the tongue several times a day or dropped into water and sipped throughout the day. Some people experience immediate positive changes in awareness and attitudes while others may notice the changes in awareness later, upon reflection. We can enhance the effects of the remedies through our own self awareness, openness to change, and ability to take personal responsibility for our lives.
